2010 Burning Bright For Breast Cancer

On Saturday October 23rd, OSSC, in association with Synchro Ontario participated in the 7th Annual “Burning Bright for Breast Cancer” Initiative.  Early in October, the girls were each given a pledge sheet and encouraged to go out into the community and raise funds and awareness for the cause.  On Saturday after practice, the club gathered on the pool deck to celebrate everyone’s efforts and swim a relay race in which a symbolic candle was kept ’burning bright’  as the girls passed it on.  It was a fun afternoon and the athletes swam with enthusiasm and spirit.  After the torch relay, each of the teams came up with a creative photo idea to be entered into Ontario Sychro’s Burning Bright photo contest.

OSSC would like to thank everyone who participated and helped to raise funds for this worthwhile cause.  A big thank you to the Coaching team and parent volunteers for their help and endless enthusiasm.  These events would not be possible without you.

This year OSSC raised $2,273!  A special thank you goes out to our top three fundraisers – Kathleen Carpenter raised $931, Nora Mossman and Shona Taylor each raised $350.  Well done!

All proceeds have been passed onto Synchro Ontario on behalf of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
