OSSC is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer Board. The Club is committed to keeping program fees as low as possible for our families and we rely on fundraising to help us achieve this goal. National athletes and their families are expected to participate fully in all OSSC sanctioned fundraising activities. Money raised through these activities provides important revenue for the Club and benefits all members of the Club. Club fundraising opportunities include but are not limited to: Synchro-a-thon, individual fundraising including tagging and sponsorships, the Loblaw cards fundraising program, hosting Synchro Swim Ontario/Synchro Canada events, raffles and social events.
The Synchro-a-thon is an annual Club fundraising event held in the fall during conditioning season. Athletes swim lengths for one hour and collect either a flat donation amount or donations for the number of lengths they are able to swim. Athletes can earn prizes for the most lengths swum in their age group or the most funds raised. This is one of the largest and most fun fundraising events the Club runs each year.
Loblaw Cards Fundraising Program
Pre-Provincial, Provincial and National athletes and their families participate in Loblaw’s Cards program. Loblaw cards fundraising program, gives a revenue return rate of 5% that goes directly to OSSC and assists to offset program fees. Families provide 11 post-dated cheques August through June inclusive. The full amount is returned to families each month in the form of Loblaw gift cards (you lose nothing), which can be used at any of the Loblaw family of stores including Loblaw, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills and Fortinos.
Additional Loblaws cards can be purchased for family and friends – every bit helps!
Stay tuned for other ways to fundraise.
