National Competitive Programs

Welcome to the Olympium Synchronized Swimming Club (OSSC) National Competitive Program.  This program is intended for experienced, competitive synchronized swimmers in age groups 11-12, 13-15 and Junior (16-18) who are interested in training and competing on a National basis and are considered suitable for the National program by OSSC coaching staff and the Head Coach.  The OSSC National program is unique among synchronized swimming programs in Ontario in offering intensive training complemented by a modified, condensed school program through Hollycrest Middle School and Silverthorn High School High Performer Programs. This approach ensures maximum training time while giving swimmers and their families a more balanced family life. OSSC will also work with individual athletes to devise a training plan if they wish to continue to attend their home school.

The OSSC National program offers highly qualified coaches with experience at the provincial, national and international competitive level. In addition, many of our coaches have been on Canada’s Senior National team and have competed internationally and/or at the Olympic level.

OSSC’s program is based on the Canada Sport Centres’ Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) Training to Train and Training to Compete Stages. Athletes develop their stamina (endurance), strength, speed, and suppleness (flexibility), while gaining more advanced synchronized swimming skills. Mental training is introduced and developed, including goal setting and evaluation, visualization and competition preparation. Working with team members and coaches in a supportive environment, OSSC’s athletes gain grace, confidence and poise as they represent their club proudly at provincial and national competitions.

If you are considering OSSC’S National program, we encourage you to make an application to the school by the March 31, 2017 application deadline to ensure a spot is held for you. Hollycrest M. S. will be accepting applications for the High Performer Program for the 2017/2018 school year as of Monday, January 9th, 2017.  Applications are to be submitted in hard copy form to the school office.  Application packages are available in the school office or can be downloaded from the school web page. http://schoolweb.tdsb.on.ca/hollycrest/HighPerformerProgram.aspx

There are a limited number places available and it is important that you submit an application even if you have not yet made your final decision on the National program.
